IRI joins forces with Thresher to provide online data for best selling products

SalesWeb Service Introduced to Stores for Tracking Convenience Brands

London, UK – 1 April 2008 – Information Resources Inc (IRI), the leading global provider of consumer, shopper and market insights for the consumer packaged goods, retail, and healthcare industries, today announced that it would be using SalesWeb as a tool to provide its National Account Managers with information needed to track brand performance at Thresher Stores.  The ability to track and comprehend distribution, sales and pricing in-store is a crucial element in the early phases of new product launches as well as during promotion periods.

SalesWeb is IRI's service that delivers weekly retail data to manufacturing suppliers.   Thresher data will be delivered in the same format that retail buyers are familiar with and will include valuable competitor and private label information.  This data will then be delivered over the web, three days after the end of the trading week, thus allowing the manufacturer to track sales and distribution of existing and new products.  This will enable more accurate targeting of competitor lines for de-listings, tracking of promotional implementation, identifying and rectifying out of stock situations and pinpointing slower moving lines.

Jeremy McNamara, IRI's Regional Managing Director of Northern Europe explained, “The addition of Thresher stores to our portfolio provides us with a broader view on the marketplace while SalesWeb provides our customers with a deeper insight to the selling patterns of certain products.  This allows us to cater for clients who rely on such data to judge the success of new products introduced in stores. Retailers rely heavily on data like this to track how successful certain products or brands are performing, so that the overall success of sale turnover in stores is guaranteed.”

Data will be available for the following fascias: Threshers, The Local, Haddows, Bottoms Up, Victoria Wine, Wine Rack. IRI also has extensive capability to deliver solutions facilitating relationship management at the store level.
